Employee Wellbeing

“Embrace the reality that organizational health propels performance.”
McKinsey Quarterly

Employee Wellness
We are the original whole-person model developed forty years ago, at the beginning of the wellness movement. Proven successful by coaches and practitioners for decades, the Wellness Inventory is now an evidence-based, online engagement platform.

Our self-management program inspires employees to continually progress toward optimal personal and professional wellbeing.

This isn’t a get-fit-quick scheme or outdated approach limited to “preventing” disease. It’s about creating and managing individual wellbeing to realize full potential.

  Deeper Approach = Better Results
Many flashy, get-well-quick tactics have failed to improve employee health. Games, diet tips, and activity trackers are fun, and a crash diet may work for three months, then what? Our program is a strategic framework that can include plenty of fun tactics, but with deeper understanding of total wellbeing and active self-responsibility. This means more motivation to improve lifestyle behaviors.

Want to impose rules? Good luck. You can’t decree compliance to some “health” formula. You can, however, earn commitment from employees informed and empowered to be advocates for their wellbeing. When a person realizes how all aspects of their life impact their total wellbeing and how their choices really matter, then you get deeper self-motivation from most people to live life more fully and continually improve.

  Wellbeing and Performance
The idea of “wellness” being separate from job engagement, skill development, and retention is odd to us. True whole-person wellbeing means increased self-responsibility and life balance for better performance including concentration, critical thinking, stress management, receptivity to new ideas, ability to adapt and learn, as well as more effective communication skills.

An employee who doesn’t take full responsibility for their health and total wellbeing, who doesn’t have reasonable life balance, is likely to be disengaged at work. Stress, eating and sleep habits, relationships, general or specific health issues – all of these interact with one another and materialize on the job, one way or another.

Realizing full potential can’t happen if I have issues throwing my life out-of-balance. Optimal job engagement and professional contribution at work won’t happen without active and ongoing participation in managing my personal wellbeing.

  Participation and Culture
Our team includes over a decade of employee communications expertise, over two decades of employee engagement experience, and intensely trained Wellness Inventory Coaches. We can incorporate diverse incentives, rewards, and recognition into an engagement plan orchestrated to maximize sustained participation over time.

There is no template to which you must conform. We can provide expert consultation to help your HR, Benefits, or Wellness team create a step-by-step actionable plan, or we can develop a complete plan for you tailored to your employee population, social structure, and organizational model. We help cultivate a coaching and mentoring ethic.

The key: this isn’t a silo. We help weave wellbeing into your workplace fabric.

A Culture of Wellbeing is a thriving workplace with healthy, engaged employees aligned with your objectives, focused on meeting goals, inspired to contribute and innovate. A workplace with decreasing rather than escalating healthcare costs.

  ROI – the easy part
You don’t need Excel to quantify common sense, but you want to track program effectiveness. Many employers and third party studies have documented ROI, but it doesn’t really matter. Your workplace is specific and easily measurable.

We’ll help you identify a simple equation using your existing metrics such as direct healthcare costs, and indirect costs (which are greater) including absenteeism and productivity. Additional metrics such as an evidenced-based presenteeism survey can provide a more granular benchmark.

Our cost-effective model offers extraordinary value with several affordable options for large enterprises and small businesses. So, beyond paying for itself, what can a well-developed program deliver? McKinsey's white paper, Organizational Health: The Ultimate Competitive Advantage, reports a definitive study of 600,000 employees at more than 500 organizations worldwide. Various approaches with one common factor: those workplaces most active, and in the top quartile of organizational health, are:

  • 2.2x more likely to have an above-median EBITDA margin
  • 2x more likely to have above-median growth in enterprise-to-book value
  • 1.5x more likely to have above-median growth in net income-to-sales.

  How and Why It Works.
The Wellness Inventory’s extremely cost-effective program includes a unique 120 data-point assessment and robust online tools. The total user experience is unlike any other. You’ll see how people with multiple risk factors can take action to improve lifestyle behavior that helps lower most risks factors. You’ll see how healthy people can manage and improve their total wellbeing to realize more potential.

The Wellness Inventory can replace or work with your existing HRA and biometric testing. Our model takes a further step to help an individual gain deeper insight about causes and manage more active, ongoing self-management. For example, if I have high blood pressure, an HRA recommends generic advice for me to eat less salt and exercise more. Our program adds tools to understand how and why multiple, specific, personal life factors impact behaviors that, in turn, affect eating and exercise.

Admin is easy to use, with enterprise-wide, division or location, and department views of aggregate reports, participation tracking, and communication options while maintaining participant confidentiality. Co-branding is also available.
